'Pumpkin Smash' promises to put lanterns to good use

Ady Dayman

Available for over a year

Ever wondered where all your pumpkins go after Halloween? According to the conservation charity Hubbub, every year an estimated 18,000 tonnes of edible pumpkin ends up as waste in the bin and landfill. Rod Weston says he's a 'master composter' and is organising a 'Pumpkin Smash' where pumpkin lanterns are composted rather than sent to landfill. BBC Radio Leicester's Kevin Ncube's been to meet him at his allotment on Stokes Drive.
