London Pride Rally 1979

BBC Archive

Available for over a year

In June 1979, London played host to Gay Pride Week, which culminated in the Pride March through the capital. It was, at the time, the largest gathering of it's kind Europe had ever seen. In this short clip from the BBC 2 programme Inside Out from 1980, we hear an interesting summary as to how and why Pride has got to this point, as well as some sounds and music from the day itself.
