There’s over one thousand one hundred of those seeking asylum in our city. BBC Radio Stoke’s Bongi Msimanga, spoke to an asylum seeker from Albania, she’s a mum of two and came to the UK over 6 years ago. The Home Office says it’s unable to state what the average waiting time is for an asylum interview and decision making but the Prime Minister has pledged to clear the backlog of more than 90 000 asylum decisions relating to claims made by June 2022.
