A leisure centre in Belper could close following a 400% increase to its energy bills. The owners of Belper Leisure Centre have said the increase would be ‘untenable’. Amber Valley Borough Council says: “While the council has no direct ownership of control of Belper Leisure Centre, we are extremely sad to learn that the poor state of its finances may lead to its closure.” BBC Radio Derby’s Georgia Roberts has spoken to people at the centre.
