Covid: 'I've been shielding from my family for almost 2 years'

Health Check

Available for over a year

In many parts of the world, although Covid is still with us, wide spread vaccination and lower rates of infection has meant life feels on its way back to normal again. But for some, a train carriage full of people or a packed party is a place full of fear. Shannon has the immune condition lupus, which means she has to take drugs to suppress her immune system in order to stop it from attacking her own body. She is so vulnerable to catching the virus that she has lived apart from her husband Richard, teenage daughter Maddie and dog Willow for almost two years. What’s it like having your life on hold and not being able to hug or kiss your loved ones? (Photo: Shannon and her family. Credit: Shannon)
