Until It Happens To You

New Creatives

Available for over a year

Until it Happens to You by Daljinder Johal explores the funny, sad and stigmatised reality of experiencing the menopause. At three different points of their journey, Julie, Nick and Mani reflect on how prepared they felt for the menopause as well as how their relationships and society shaped their experiences. Whether it’s been shamed or laughed at, the world around us has silenced conversation about this life change and when a significant part of the population will go through it, why don’t we know more about it? In this audio piece, three contributors reject any taboos and show how this key moment in life can wildly differ depending on age, gender, background and circumstances. Relatable, surprising and sometimes a little infuriating, Until It Happens to You explores how the menopause is far from one straightforward story. New Creatives is supported by BBC Arts and Arts Council England.
