Tonight I Slept Well

New Creatives

Available for over a year

A touching, raw spoken word piece from the view of the narrator as he discusses his own problems sleeping and establishing the reasons behind them. We go on to explore other peoples insomnia as a result of different factors in their lives as we take on the voice of each character. Accompanying these chilling lyrics is a soundscape which allows the listener to envision the character's locale. The writer Samuel Mansell describes his reasons for creating the piece as “to spread awareness of the mental health issues that can arise from a lack of connection with others and how this can be manifested in problems sleeping. I want them to feel counted and important as individuals but also connected as a collective support base for each other.” New Creatives is supported by Arts Council England and BBC Arts.
