My face was stolen by scammers

A BBC investigation has found that cybercriminals have been taking advantage of the outpouring of sympathy for people in Ukraine. Scammers are re-posting emotive footage of the war on TikTok and asking for donations. They're also stealing identities and impersonating charities like UNICEF and the British Red Cross - by setting up fake websites to con people out of money. Staff at the charities are warning donors to stay alert - and if there's any doubt, to check with the charity before donating. For 5 Minutes On, the BBC's disinformation reporter, Hannah Gelbart, follows the cybercriminals' digital paper trail. She speaks to an expert on scam emails - and tracks down Miguel Angel. He's a doctor from Mexico whose photo has been stolen from Facebook and used in a fake appeal to raise money for a children's hospital in Ukraine. Photo credit: Miguel Angel Minero Hibert
