Son Andrew's often asked questions about what Mum, with late stage dementia, can still do - here are some answers

Andrew Edwards

Available for over a year

Son Andrew is often asked questions about what Carolyn can and can't do. She has late stage mixed dementia (Alzheimer's and vascular). A visit from his partner makes him reflect on how much has changed in the last two years. Cathy lost both her parents to Covid. While Andrew has visited every week during the pandemic, he's been very conscious about keeping the risk of infecting Mum to a minimum. Now, with restrictions lifted and Cathy enjoying a rare day off on a Monday, she's able to see for herself what's changed. She brings a bunch of Carolyn's favourite flowers, freesias, listens to music with her and is rewarded with lovely smiles. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on BBC Radio Leeds.
