One of Mozart's most famous concertos, this is a bright and sunny discussion between soloist and orchestra. The finale is a lively, cheerful dance in triple metre, the use of drones giving it a rustic quality. However, the middle movement is the most famous, and has been described as 'an adagio that seems to have fallen straight from heaven' thanks to its serene, nocturnal melodic beauty. Composer: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Performers: BBC Philharmonic Orchestra Performer: Jennifer Pike (Violin) Conductor: Juanjo Mena Recording date: 08 January 2011 Date of broadcast: 08 January 2011
