Susan Dashey - Saving lives in lockdown

Breakfast on BBC Radio Leicester

Available for over a year

Dr Susan Dashey is a Consultant in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine and ECMO. She describes how she set out to prepare for the 'inevitable' influx of coronavirus patients within the ECMO service at Glenfield Hospital. She had to relearn how to wear a mask correctly and was told where to shower, all to ensure that people were kept safe from the virus in a hospital environment. Dr Dashey says she spent more than eight hours in PPE. Which meant no drinks and no toilet breaks during that time. Hear the audio diaries and stories from Leicestershire’s NHS workers sharing how they coped during the coronavirus pandemic, to celebrate the 72nd birthday of the NHS.
