Standing up to domestic abuse with Rachel Williams

Gina's Game Changers
Contains graphic violent scenes and scenes which some viewers may find disturbing.

Available for over a year

Gina Martin and Nihal Arthanayake speak to domestic violence survivor Rachel Williams, who wants non-strangulation – or “throttling” – to be made a separate criminal offence. After Rachel’s ex-partner Darren tried to strangle her, he was charged with common assault. He went on to shoot and attack her, before killing himself. Tragically, Rachel’s son Jack took his own life shortly afterwards. Rachel tells Gina her story, and explains why she has devoted her life ever since to help victims of domestic abuse. Please note: This audio contains descriptions of graphic violence that some people may find distressing.
