Wimbledon: Herbert 'honoured' to be Andy Murray's doubles partner

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert wasn't supposed to be playing doubles at Wimbledon. He has a highly successful partnership with Nicolas Mahut - with whom he's won all four grand slam titles - but he'd decided to just concentrate on singles at the French Open and Wimbledon this year, in a bid to improve his singles ranking. However when Andy Murray came calling, looking for a partner for Wimbledon, Pierre-Hugues says it was just too good an offer to turn down. He says it'll be "an honour" to play with Murray, but he'll also be feeling the pressure, as if they do well he'll probably be made "an honorary Brit" but if they don't... he'll be a French so-and-so! This clip is originally from 5 Live's Peter Allen programme on 30th June 2019.
