BBC Minute

Available for over a year

It was an explosive grand slam final between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka on Sunday at the US Open. Serena Williams was fined for code violations, she got a penalty point and was docked a game for calling the umpire - Carlos Ramos - a "thief" and a "liar". The American said it was "sexist" to have been penalised a game. The chief executive of the Women's Tennis Association and the president of the United States Tennis Association - which organises the US Open - agree with her. Our tennis correspondent, Russell Fuller, explains. (Photo: Serena Williams smashes her racket during the women"s final against Naomi Osaka at the US Open.
