Janet and Vicki have been friends for over twenty years. Nine years ago, Janet's husband left her, when their children were 6, 5 and 1 years old. Six months later, Vicki's partner left her four days after she gave birth to their daughter. After struggling for a few months on her own, and with nowhere to live, Vicki and baby Daisy moved into Janet's spare room. What was supposed to be a couple of weeks lasted a couple of years. They dubbed the house the 'single mums' mansion'. Janet and Vicki came together to record their Listening Project conversation just after Janet had had the news that she had been given a book deal to write a fictionalised version of their time together. They reflect on how being together helped them through heartbreak.
