"I Feed Hyenas From My Mouth"

The Food Chain

Available for over a year

In Ethiopia, hyenas have been welcomed into the community, as they are believed to chase away evil spirits. In many cities they roam at night looking for food waste left by humans. Gidey Yirga, a professor at Mekelle University, explains how he sometimes feeds these animals meat straight from his mouth to demonstrate that they do not pose a danger. (Image: A hyena roaring.
