The Lord's of East Africa

Available for over a year

Rwanda - the first thing that may come to mind is the horrific genocide in 1994. It has taken years for the country to heal - and cricket has played a small part in the rehabilitation. Indeed, a new chapter will open in Rwanda's cricket history on Saturday, as they host a competitive game between a Rwanda and All Star XI in their new international cricket stadium on the outskirts of the capital, Kigali. Eric Dusingizimana - who is Rwanda's national team captain, the chief fundraiser for the project and the stadium's general manager - will be playing in the opening game, as will the current England international, Sam Billings. Sportshour's Caroline Barker caught up with them both. Picture credit: Rwanda cricket ground (Alby Shale)
