Why low pay in Somerset?

Woman's Hour

Available for over a year

We found that women in Somerset are amongst the lowest paid in Britain. Sedgemoor was the worst performing local authority in terms of women’s income; we looked at women’s median salaries and the gender pay gap. Jane talks to Bridgwater employment and skills centre manager Caroline Derrick and Helen Lacey who runs a recruitment agency in the town about the type of jobs women do and the barriers to better paid work.
