Robert Wyatt: Why do all the singers on the Third programme have wobbly voices?

Late Junction

Available for over a year

It's fair to say Robert Wyatt is not a fan of operatic vibrato. Many moons ago a young Wyatt sent a postcard to the 3rd programme, as it was then, to ask why there was a tendency for opera singers to sing in wobbly voices. He never received a reply so we asked Tom Service, over 50 years later, to answer Robert's original query.
