Reading FC: Transfers were 'very good business'

Sport on BBC Radio Berkshire: Pre-match

Available for over a year

Royals Chief Executive Ron Gourlay gives his assessment on the summer transfer window. Reading FC signed seven players during the transfer window, and broke their transfer record. "I think it was very good business," Gourlay told BBC Radio Berkshire's Tim Dellor. "We all want to improve the football club, we've got to move forward, but we've got to be realistic. "It's my job to manage the expectations of the fans and also of the ownership." And Gourlay explain exactly what his role is in any potential transfers. "Jaap [Stam] and Brian [Tevreden] work very hard in identifying the players we need. "It's my job to go out there and hopefully negotiate deals to bring players in at the right figure."
