Voices of the Partition

Paul Coia

Available for over a year

The India - Pakistan partition sparked one of the largest mass migrations in history. Hundreds of thousands were killed, and tens of thousands of women were abducted - on all sides. Rob Deeks from Slough Youth Group Aik Saath and Jill Wallace whose father served in the army shared their experiences. Rob said: "Partition was horrific for everyone that went through it but for women there was an extra layer of suffering. Many were abducted, raped, forced to convert to another faith." Jill said: "He saw many Muslim friends and Hindu friends split asunder and he absolutely hated it."
