Red Kite

Dawn Chorus

Available for over a year

Twisting and turning in the breeze, gliding silently above the valleys and granite tors of the Mourne Mountain range, is a rare and magnificent bird of prey – the Red Kite. A raptor with deep red plumage, forked tail and five foot wingspan it was nearly wiped out following centuries of human persecution. However, thanks to the reintroduction work of the RSPB in 2010, County Down saw the first red kite chicks hatch in Northern Ireland in over 200 years.
