Voodoo – a religion steeped in sorcery

Heart and Soul

Available for over a year

Right across West Africa, Voodoo is practised by more than 50 million followers. Fortune telling, or fah, is a big part of Voodoo spirituality. Correspondent Ed Davey with Ghanaian biochemist Jafar Habib travel to the city of Cotonou to have their fortunes told in a fah reading. Ougasian, a Voodoo priest, explains the roots of fah and it’s everyday importance for believers. (Image: People gather inside a Voodoo shrine. Credit: Dan Kitwood / BBC)
