Braving Benin’s python temple

Heart and Soul

Available for over a year

Correspondent Ed Davey and Ghanaian biochemist Jafar Habib visit the Temple of the Python, in Ouidah, Benin, a pilgrimage for many Voodoo believers. Benin is one of only two countries in the world to formally recognise Voodoo as a religion – more than half of Beninese are believers. Voodoo means ‘god’ or ‘power’, and followers believe a natural force flows through everything.
