McGuigan: Willing to lead an effort to support boxers

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Former world featherweight champion Barry McGuigan has said sport has not done enough to help athletes with mental health problems. McGuigan said all governing bodies should combine resources to work to help with athletes. "There is plenty of money available and some of that money should be set aside to help for mental health issues in general." "I would be happy to help in whatever way I can. It really worries me about the future of the sport and how to we make it safer without changing it too dramatically," added the ex-world champion. This clip is originally from Phil Williams on BBC Radio 5 live - Wednesday 5 October 2016.
