The sex secrets of killer whales

Discovery

Available for over a year

Killer whales are ‘incredibly tactile, I would say, sexual creatures’, says Deborah Giles who is Director of Research at the Center for Whale Research in the United States. Old matriarch whales are hugely important in the life of their family groups, and that may include providing ‘sex education’ to the younger males. ‘Giles’ also explains to Victoria Gill the orca practise of ‘sword fighting’.
