Gymnastics boss: tough funding rules helped Team GB

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The targeted funding approach of UK Sport, which has seen some disciplines lose out, has given Team GB a focus it would otherwise have lacked. That's according to the Chief Executive of British Gymnastics, Jane Allen. UK Sport invests National Lottery and government funding into Olympic and Paralympic sports but can cut money from disciplines that fail to do well in competitions. Jane Allen told 5 Live's Wake Up to Money on 5 live that "other countries would now be examining themselves." "You wouldn't want to be in some of the other countries at the moment" she said. This clip is originally from Wake Up to Money on Monday 22nd August 2016
