Marikana: Conditions 'Fail To Improve' For Workers

World Business Report

Available for over a year

Four years on from the Marikana killings in South Africa, the mine's owner Lonmin has failed to improve the 'appalling' housing for thousands of workers, according to a report by Amnesty International. The first ever marijuana growers' fair in the United States took place at the weekend in Oregon. Marijuana is already big business in Oregon, and is set to get even bigger following the decision two years ago to legalise the drug for recreational use. We hear from David Morse, one of the show's organisers. Also on the programme, as India prepares to celebrate seventy years of independence, we'll hear how the country could be on the verge of a major economic boom.
