North Korea, despite a rickety economy and international isolation has shown itself very technologically adept - building long-range missiles and nuclear warheads. The French power giant EDF voted, narrowly, to go ahead with a $24 billion project to build the UK's first nuclear plant in a generation - two reactors on the coast in South West England. But new doubts about the project have come from an unexpected quarter - the new UK government has said it will only decide whether to give its own go-ahead in September.
