Jersey-based drummer still playing at 94

BBC Music Introducing in Jersey

Available for over a year

Alfred Hall, 94, was banned from learning the drums by his father as a child. He managed to make his own kit using biscuit tins and Meccano, but his dad found it and threw it out of the window. Alfred did not give up. He built Lancaster Bbombers during the war, and played in dance bands. After the war he became a professional drummer, played with bands all over the country then came to Jersey and played in all big venues like the Opera House, Pavilion and more. This clip was recorded when he was 94 years old.
