Short home care visits 'upsets patients'

Today

Available for over a year

Unacceptably short 15-minute home care visits to elderly and disabled people are still plaguing the care system in England, a report by Unison suggests. "The [elderly] people themselves usually say 'I feel like I’ve been rushed this morning' and it gets them upset," carer Denise told the Today programme. "When you go to somebody with dementia or Alzheimer’s it takes you a long time to introduce yourself because they don’t know who you are," she said. "It's confusing for them."
