Could Conservationists be Causing Extinction?

Global Concerns

Available for over a year

Roger Burrows's handling-stress hypothesis linked the extinction of African wild dogs in the Serengeti in Tanzania with the intervention of scientists. The scientists' monitoring methods - radio collars, vaccination and anaesthetisation - are alleged to have caused so much stress that the dogs became susceptible to rabies. Presenter: Janet Davey.
