France: No Place For Muslims?

Asian Network Reports

Available for over a year

France is in a state of emergency and as the nation reels from its second terrorist attack this year, Divya Talwar investigates if there has been any backlash against Muslims in the country. France is home to Europe's largest Muslim population and the attacks have left many feeling increasingly alienated from mainstream French society. Divya meets French Muslims who have been impacted by the security crackdown, and those who feel discriminated by their country, with some even hiding their Islamic identity to be safe. She hears from the far-right groups who say it's impossible for Muslims to live peacefully in France. While the government steps up its fight against so-called Islamic State militants in Syria, many say France is ignoring the real problems at home – those of integration and disenfranchisement among many. Reporter: Divya Talwar Producer: Athar Ahmad Editor: Kevin Silverton
