Umunna rejects ‘nasty troll-form of politics’

Today

Available for over a year

Labour MP Chuka Umunna has called for an end to a "nasty troll-form of politics" in his party. Speaking on the Today programme, the former shadow business secretary said MPs should be able to air different views on issues including shoot-to-kill and military intervention in Syria “without being insulted, without being trolled, without being threatened with deselection”. "Ultimately there are people in our party who are pacifists, who would never ever sanction the use of lethal force or military intervention in any circumstances,” he told presenter Justin Webb. "I don't share those views nor do the majority of people in the country.”
