Vietnam Special: South East Asia's Silicon Valley

Big Boss Interview

Available for over a year

We speak to the children of wartime-era refugees from Vietnam that are coming back to the country to make new lives and new businesses. The BBC's Fergus Nicoll meets the new middle class of Vietnam and find out what has drawn them back to the country that their parents fled. The Marou chocolate company grows all its ingredients in the cacao plantations of the south. They have a cocoa butter press called Lord Humungus – and with increased production they’ve had to quadruple their roasting capacity. The final product is fantastic – and it’s available in some of the world’s top retail outlets. Vivienne Nunis has been talking to Sam and Vincent – and meeting their invaluable partners in this region’s immaculately maintained plantations. We're joined throughout the programme by Alison Van Diggelen of freshdialogues.com and Le Net, a lawyer based in Ho Chi Minh City. (Photo: Technology entrepreneurs Eddie Thai and Binh Tran.
