The Drive to Empire - Part Five

Russia, The Drive To Empire

Available for over a year

Perestroika has unleashed a wave of nationalism among Soviet republics. Mikhail Gorbachev's attempt at reforming the Soviet Union has given rise to feelings of anger and fear supressed during decades of Communist rule. Demonstrations in Georgia and in many of the 15 republics that make up the union threaten to open up old ethic wounds, including in Armenia and Azerbaijan.
