The earth was in a state of turmoil with molten rock moving on the earth's surface. When the rock cooled down continents were formed but where did the water in the oceans come from? Scientists believe gases escaping from the inside of the earth helped create the atmosphere and oceans were formed from the bombardment of ice-rich asteroids and comets.
