Africa's Investment Boom

We examine the boom in African investment. Around $80 billion went into the continent last year, close to the all-time record, and it is predicted that 13 of the world's 20 fastest growing economies over the next five years will be African. So what is going on? We hear from a small-time Malawian entrepreneur, and the research head of the African Venture Capital Association, who says the emergence of a middle class and accountable governments is making all the difference. We also hear from Dr Amadou Sy, director of the Africa Growth Initiative at the Brookings Institute in Washington DC. He says Africa is at a critical stage where its growth potential could be derailed if the continent does not secure the right kind of foreign direct investment. We also hear from the Nigerian businessman, Og Amazu, who along with his wife, became the first Nigerians to land by parachute onto the North Pole - all for a good cause!
