Richie Benaud was a great cricketer and "a very fine man", says former Australian opening batsman, Justin Langer. The former Australian cricketer and "iconic" commentator has died at the age of 84. He passed away at a hospice in Sydney, having been treated for skin cancer. Speaking to 5 live Breakfast, Langer remembered the last time he saw Benaud: "I could notice him in a pair of kahki shorts, pink business shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows and wide brimmed hat. I said 'G'day Richie', he just put his finger up to the air and kept walking as if a hundred Australians a day give him the same catchcry". Benaud was one of the most recognisable commentators within the sport - often described as the voice of cricket - during a career spanning almost 50 years.
