Trending

Available for over a year

On Tuesday 10th February in the college town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, three students, were shot and killed by a middle-aged white man. Before the facts had been confirmed, the murders sparked global outrage on social media with people debating whether the Muslim students had been targeted because of their religion. BBC Trending tracked #ChapelHillShooting, which has been posted over three million times, to the activist Abed Ayoub, legal and policy director of the American-Arab anti-discrimination committee in Washington D.C.
