Paula Radcliffe on feeling lonely, even at the top

A life less lonely

Available for over a year

Long-distance runner Paula Radcliffe says she felt loneliness during her career - even at the top. She said it was hard to know "who to trust" during some of the tougher times in the sport. Radcliffe said the "worst time" was after suffering an injury in 2003. "You do feel lonely in being alone with the injury and with the thoughts, wanting to be back running, be healthy again, but not being able to get there." This clip is part of the BBC's A Life Less Lonely: a day of programming across the BBC exploring the effects of loneliness across the UK.
