Widower Bob, 93: 'I see loneliness as a mass of grey'

In October 5 live Breakfast was discussing loneliness when 93-year-old Bob Lowe contacted the programme. Bob's wife died three years ago and he read out a poem he had written to her. A poll for 5 live suggests that more than four million people in the UK will be spending Christmas by themselves. Two months on from first appearing on 5 live, Bob told us about the loneliness he had experienced since he lost his wife. Bob said: "I see loneliness as a mass of grey. When you go out of the house the grey gets little bit smaller and the more people you're talking to, you forget the grey.
