Andy and Gail Cruickshank live on the Scottish borders and are abstaining from voting in the referendum. The couple who run a giftware and printing shop in Carlisle market live on the Scottish side of the borders but have chosen not to take part in the independence vote. Gail told Nicky Campbell "I decided very early on not to vote and I haven't listened to any of the political debates". 97% of the adult population - a total of 4,285,323 - have registered to vote, making it the largest electorate the country has ever known for any election or referendum.
