Eimear McBride & Dilys Rose at Edinburgh Book Festival 2014

BBC at the Edinburgh Festivals

Available for over a year

Given its stream-of-consciousness structure, few could have anticipated the buzz around Eimear McBride’s debut, A Girl is a Half-formed Thing. Now the Ireland-based writer has been shortlisted for a slew of prizes including the Folio Prize. Equally innovative in its approach to storytelling is Pelmanism, the new novel by Dilys Rose, presenting fragments of memory from a woman as she approaches a terrifying reunion with her father. Chaired by author and former Booker Prize judge Stuart Kelly. BBC Arts is showcasing some of the most exciting new talent appearing at this year’s Edinburgh Book Festival featuring authors appearing under its ‘First Book Award’ umbrella. It is a chance to hear both debut authors and international writers newly translated into English, who promise to take literary Edinburgh by storm.
