A combination of local and European emissions mixed in with Saharan dust and a high pressure system has caused high levels of air pollution across parts of the UK. People with lung or heart disease have been urged to avoid strong exercise outside. The BBC's Jenny Hill describes the misty conditions in Birmingham, Professor Paul Monks chair of the Air Quality Expert Group explains why the conditions have occurred, and how they are still a tenth of those experienced in China. Birmingham GP Will Merdock on how "not everybody will be equally affected" by the conditions.
