Richard III Timeline

Jonathan Lampon

Available for over a year

The row over where the remains of Richard the Third should be buried heads to court. 18 months on since the king was found under a city centre car park by archaeologists from the University of Leicester. They were granted an exhumation licence by the Ministry of Justice which stipulated that IF a body were found, it should be re-interred in Leicester Cathedral. But those terms and conditions are being challenged by a group known as the Plantagenet Alliance which is made up of people claiming to be King Richard's descendants. All parties locked in this legal wrangle will be heard in the High Court. BBC Radio Leicester's Manish Verma reminds us how we got here.
