HS2: Head of Consultation

Jonathan Lampon

Available for over a year

It's been described as a white elephant, a massive waste of public money and a vastly destructive force. It's also being hailed as a huge boost for the nation's economy and a 21st century solution to linking the north with the south. High Speed Two or HS2, splits opinion. Although a recent survey suggested that a whopping 97 per cent of people want the £50 billion, Government-backed project scrapped. If it's built, part of it will cut through north west Leicestershire without actually stopping here. And that's angering a lot of people locally who fear our county would suffer all the perceived harm with none of the benefits. A roadshow rolls into Ashby de la Zouch to get people on board with HS2. Farahnaz Ashouri is head of consultation for HS2 and spoke to Jonathan Lampon.
