Fathers and Daughters: Alan and Sophie

Alan is a former professional footballer for Leicester City. Aged 31, life as he knew it - changed. He was forced to retire from the game he loved due to a progressive back injury. It was also around this time that his marriage ended, and he had to move away from his family - leading to some of the darkest moments of his life. His daughter Sophie - now 21 - lives in Switzerland and so they don't see each other as often as they would like. In this extract of their conversation for the Listening Project, you'll hear how their father-daughter relationship has evolved.
