This week on Talking Books Razia Iqbal's guest is the playwright, essayist and novelist Caryl Phillips. Born in the Caribbean, he grew up as an immigrant in the UK. After university he left the UK and has spent many years in the United States. Distance and isolation form the themes of many of his non-fiction and novels, which often feature outsiders. Razia Iqbal asks him how travel and life as an immigrant has shaped his writing.
