Brains and emails

Business Daily

Available for over a year

Can heavy use of technology such as smartphones and laptops affect our brains? It is a question that has serious implications for businesses and workplaces across the world. Five of America's foremost brain scientists decided to cut themselves off from communication for a few days, to look at whether the effects could be repaired by a retreat from technology. Lesley Curwen talks to two of them, David Strayer, psychology Professor from the University of Utah and Art Kramer, Professor of Psychology & Neuroscience at the University of Illinois. Plus, we hear advice on how to handle email overload from LJ Rich, technology reporter for BBC Click on BBC World News. And psychologist Nic Hammarling describes how to deal with people with a very loud phone voice in the office.
